Shelter Sector
As part of its institutional commitment to advancing professional standards in humanitarian response, SAVE CONGO delivers a 45-day online training programme in the Shelter sector through its " Humanitarian School ", offered in five languages - French, English, Portuguese, Spanish, and Arabic. The programme culminates in an internationally recognized certification and is facilitated by qualified academic instructors and experienced field practitioners, including experts affiliated with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
The training is designed to strengthen participants' capacity to design, implement, and coordinate shelter interventions in humanitarian contexts, in line with internationally recognized standards and best practices. It provides comprehensive instruction on emergency shelter design and standards, ensuring that responses are safe, dignified, and adapted to the needs of affected populations.
Participants are equipped with technical skills in settlement planning and site management, including spatial organization, infrastructure considerations, and service integration within temporary and transitional settlements. The programme also addresses construction techniques using locally available materials, promoting cost-effective, context-appropriate, and environmentally sustainable solutions.
In addition, the training covers the interface with Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM), strengthening participants' understanding of coordination mechanisms, governance structures, and service delivery within camp settings. Particular emphasis is placed on environmental considerations in shelter response, including risk mitigation, resource management, and sustainable practices.
The programme is offered at a registration fee of USD 25. Upon confirmation of enrolment, participants receive a secure access link to the online learning platform.
